Flatbed capacity built around the load
Flatbed freight requires more than a lane and a weight. Length, width, height, loading method, securement, tarping and appointment requirements all affect the equipment and carrier needed.
Our Lexington team works through those details before the truck is dispatched. For freight that uses only part of a trailer, we can also evaluate partial truckload options instead of automatically pricing a dedicated truck.
Common flatbed freight
- Machinery and industrial equipment
- Steel, fabricated components and building materials
- Crated or palletized freight requiring side loading
- Long pieces and freight with unusual dimensions
- Project cargo and multi-stop shipments
When partial truckload makes sense
Partial service can be a useful option when freight occupies a defined portion of the deck and the schedule allows compatible freight to share the trailer. We consider the deck length, weight, handling requirements, lane and delivery expectations before recommending it.
Information needed for an accurate quote
Provide the exact origin and destination, commodity, number of pieces, dimensions and weight of each piece, loading and unloading method, tarp or securement requirements, and the requested pickup and delivery timing. Photos and drawings are especially helpful for machinery and unusual freight.
